Mario Puzo’s The Godfather Coda: “The Death of Michael Corleone” (1990 / 2020)

Otherwise known as The Godfather Part 3. The 1970’s and 80’s were largely a time of vast success and praise for writer / director Francis Ford Coppola and in that time, he gifted us with some undeniably fantastic films, including two of the most masterful gangster movies ever committed to celluloid; those being The Godfather […]

3 From Hell (2019)

When it comes to the films of shock rocker / writer / director Rob Zombie, I’m split right down the middle. On one hand, I appreciate the deft hand he has shown when it comes to 70’s inspired exploitation-style horror flicks and there’s no denying that the man has skill and style. On the other […]

Tenet (2020)

If there’s one thing, among many others, that pisses me off about COVID-19, it’s how it’s fucked me out of seeing new movies on the Big Screen. Seriously, I have almost $200 sitting on a gift card for our local theatre that I can’t use since the major studios are MOSTLY and wisely opting to […]

Gerald’s Game (2017)

So, much like the tons of Netflix-watching peeps out there, my Better Half and I opted to check out The Haunting of Bly Manor this weekend. Bly Manor is the second ‘haunting’ series brought to the streaming service by talented horror writer / director Mike Flanagan, the first being the solidly effective The Haunting of […]

Casualties of War (1989)

Brian de Palma is another legend in Hollywood. Going all the way back to 1960, his films have ALMOST always resonated with audiences, in one way or another. I mean really, when you can boast having the likes of Carrie (1976), The Fury (1978), Blow Out (1981), Scarface (1983), The Untouchables (1987), Carlito’s Way (1993) […]

Seraphim Falls (2006)

Way back when, I used to work for a company called Technicolor Cinema Distribution as a Film Revisor (2007-2011) and I loved it, film nerd that I am. One of the duties I was charged with, before I was promoted to Account Representative, was the removal and attachment of select trailers to 35mm film prints […]

Enemy (2014)

Canada has gifted the world with some serious talent behind the camera, with the likes of James Cameron (Avatar), David Cronenberg (The Fly), Vincenzo Natali (Cube), Atom Egoyan (The Sweet Hereafter) and Bruce MacDonald (Hardcore Logo), among others, having all contributed worthwhile works to the gallery of world cinema. One of the newer members of […]

Train to Busan (2016)

Zombies…ya gotta love em! Going back to 1968, when George Romero unleashed a new and lasting breed of the undead upon the movie-going masses with the classic Night of the Living Dead, entertainment cultures around the world have readily embraced the nightmare scenario of the reanimated corpses walking and stalking among us, often to Big […]

Raised by Wolves – Episodes 1 and 2 (2020)

This is a little outside my normal format, but the following ramble focuses on Ridley Scott’s first successful foray into the TV / Streaming market (he’d had other attempts in the past but none launched, though his shelved pilot for The Vatican would be cool to see), and what I think so far, Ridley Scott […]

Underwater (2020)

I’m a sucker for flicks that take place in hostile environments, where the characters must fight to survive, often against some ‘terror from beyond’. For some reason, considering that I have a wussy fear of deep water (if I can’t see the bottom, peace out!), the science fiction / horror stories taking place beneath the […]
