Live by Night (2016)

Occasionally a movie pops up in the theatre that I have every intention of checking out but, for whatever reason, I just don’t get the chance (damn you, Life!!!). This is one of those titles. My main two reasons for wanting to check it out were the directing talents of Ben Affleck, and the time […]

Overlord (2018)

As anyone who’s read even just a few of my past movie scribbles can attest…I’m a sucker for a good WW2 flick. And, it just so happens, that I’m also a fan of weird freaky Cronenbergian body-horror type shit too, so when I first heard murmurings of this flick’s existence, I was intrigued right off […]

Venom (2018)

While I was a huge comic book collector / nerd as a kid, Spider-Man wasn’t one of those heroes I glommed onto. I don’t know why…Spidey n I just never connected. Sure, I had a few issues, particularly the McFarlane run in the early 90’s, but I never went out of my way to seek […]

The Accountant (2016)

I always intended to hit this one up when it hit The Big Screen, but for some reason, Life got in the way…and I missed it. I generally like Ben Affleck, both as an actor and as a writer / director, so that had my attention already, but I was also intrigued by the high-concept […]

The Predator (2018)

Well, THAT…was astounding. Utterly and completely. This review is going to end up pretty much the exact opposite of what I had kinda sorta expected / hoped for. And it’s going to hurt a little bit too. For context, I love the ‘Predator’ franchise…mostly. The first one is a true 80’s classic that was surprisingly […]

Blood in the Water

A short story by LR Forgues […]

The Meg (2018)

At this point, I feel like I’m repeating myself. In a couple recent reviews, I’ve bored you all to death with lil anecdotes about my love of sharks as a kid and my fear of the deep ocean due to NOT KNOWING WHAT THE FUCK IS DOWN THERE! I strongly believe that there are…things…living down […]

The Incredibles 2 (2018)

Full Disclosure: I love me a good Pixar flick! I have yet to be REALLY let down by one of their films, with the exception of the ‘Cars’ series (just didn’t do it for me). But everything else they’ve done, going back to their first major feature film release, ‘Toy Story’, in the way back […]

Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018)

For the longest time, Tom Cruise has prided himself on the novelty of having each installment of the ‘Mission Impossible’ franchise, going back to 1996, have a different director, and therefore a unique ‘flavour’ helping to form a tapestry of styles, movie by movie. We were lucky enough to get talented directors behind the camera, […]

The Equalizer 2 (2018)

Having never seen the original action / drama TV series from the mid-to-late 80’s, I had no idea what to expect when I first checked out 2014’s feature film-adaptation, by director Antoine Fuqua (‘Training Day), and starring another of those middle-aged bad-asses, Denzel Washington (‘Crimson Tide’). It may have been the lack of expectation and […]
