The Creature From the Black Lagoon

In keeping with the underwater terror flicks of days gone by, I had to go back and revisit this 1954 classic after 20 or so years. This is a good one, a classic for a reason. Not only do they try to treat the material seriously, at least as seriously as they could given the time period and content, but they do it quite well with a surprising dose of location shooting and beautiful B/W underwater photography. Some classic scenes, like the eerie ‘synchronized swimming’ sequence and the shots of the Creature lurking in the reeds, were great to see again. If you can stomach old films or have an appreciation for classic horror…check it out…or check it out again. Now…if I only I could find its sequels. March 14 at 3:12pm
