The Killing Room

Very well executed psychological thriller from 2009 about a group of ‘volunteers’ subjected to a sinister mind control experiment. The cast is a ‘who’s who’ of familiar faces and they’re all good. One thing that REALLY stood out was the creepy and minimalist atmosphere and sound design. I haven’t heard radio chatter that effective in quite some time while the music consists mostly of low, unnerving tones. What’s even creepier is that the ‘MKUltra’ experiment featured in the film is inspired by a real covert human behavior project started in the 1950’s by the CIA and was conducted on Americans and Canadians. A great premise for a thriller and this one doesn’t disappoint. I highly recommend this one. Terrific little gem to find. March 20 at 11:07pm
