The Killing Room

Very well executed psychological thriller from 2009 about a group of ‘volunteers’ subjected to a sinister mind control experiment. The cast is a ‘who’s who’ of familiar faces and they’re all good. One thing that REALLY stood out was the creepy and minimalist atmosphere and sound design. I haven’t heard radio chatter that effective in quite some time while the music consists mostly¬†of low, unnerving tones. What’s even creepier is that the ‘MKUltra’ experiment featured in the film is inspired by a real covert human behavior project started in the 1950’s by the CIA and was conducted on Americans and Canadians. A great premise for a thriller and this one doesn’t disappoint. I highly recommend this one. Terrific little gem to find. March 20 at 11:07pm
