Sanctum

For a pretty sweet looking film, this movie sure does suck. The ‘acting’ is wooden all around and the vast majority of the dialogue is awful and cringe-inducing. The center-piece of the film is a horribly cliche’d story of an estranged father and son who must overcome their differences and fight to survive when a storm traps them and their cave diving team underground. A lot of the underwater footage is well-shot and claustrophobic but hardly original. Overall this flick is pretty much disposable. If you’re a sucker for this type of disaster movie, feel free to give it a shot but don’t expect much. I kept hoping for evil cave cannibals or violent schools of carnivorous fish…then I remembered that those were from other, better movies. March 20 at 5:44pm
